📌 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE APPLYING
-
Read the ATHENS General Rules before applying.
-
Make sure to apply using your itu.edu.tr email address (applications from external emails will not be considered). Keep track of your email throughout the process.
-
Once you apply, you cannot cancel the mobility unless there is an unavoidable circumstance (e.g., health issues). You will be required to follow through with the mobility.
-
For Turkish citizens, a letter of approval will be provided to obtain a service passport if they do not have a green passport or visa. (This process will be guided by our office.)
Students requiring a gray passport should enter "Service Passport" in the passport number field during ATHENS registration.
Foreign students can only apply if they already hold a valid visa or passport (they will need to present it during the application).
-
There is no budget for the ATHENS Program, and no scholarship or financial support is provided.
-
European Dimension Activities (EDA) are mandatory for participation in the ATHENS Program. The fee varies by country, but it is approximately 40 Euros and is paid by the student. Ensure you participate in the event and pay the required fee.
-
When selecting courses, make sure the courses align with your department and academic level. Also, consider the cost of living in the country where the host university is located.
-
Your GPA must be 2.50 or higher for undergraduate students, and 3.00 or higher for graduate and doctoral students.
-
The courses you take will be micro-credited at ITU.
-
Leave approval for the mobility period will be obtained by the ITU ATHENS Coordinator on your behalf, and it will cover one day before and one day after the mobility week (14-23 November 2025). Leave requests outside of this period will not be approved.
-
If you are a working student, you will need to provide a document confirming that you have received permission from your employer for the mobility period during your application.
-
Blended Intensive Program (BIP) courses are offered by Erasmus Offices in all institutions. Students who wish to select BIP courses should contact the Erasmus Office for further information.
-
If you are already an exchange student, you cannot participate in the ATHENS Program.
-
Make sure you haven’t participated in an ATHENS mobility before. Due to high demand, priority is given to first-time participants.
-
For undergraduate students, only final-year (4th-year) students can apply due to the high volume of applications. Graduates are given priority. For graduate and doctoral students, they must have completed their first semester and provide a transcript with their grades.
-
Before signing, make sure you read and understand the Student Commitment and ITU Commitment documents. By signing them, you agree to abide by the terms outlined, and violations may result in penalties.
-
The application evaluation considers factors such as gender equality, institutional and country diversity, active participation in the process, and timely submission of required documents.
-
Now that you have all the information you need, you can proceed with your application. Applications are submitted through the ATHENS Network website.
To apply, register with your itu.edu.tr email address on the site. Then, follow the instructions to complete your personalized Application Form and Student Commitment form.
