Social Security and Health Insurance

ITU does not issue health insurance nor does it have a requirement that visiting scholars have their own health insurance coverage. As visiting scholars without contract are legally not employed in Turkey, they won’t be eligible for insurance from the Republic of Turkey Social Security Institution (Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu-SGK). Hence, it is highly recommended to buy a short-term insurance. Otherwise, they will have to pay cash for health services.
