İTÜ Ranks First in Turkey in the QS WUR BY SUBJECT Ranking

Our university ranked first place in our country in the QS rankings (commissioned by YÖK), the assessment of success rates in areas where Turkish universities compete globally.

The Higher Education Council (YOK), had the London-based rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) measure the competitiveness of universities in Turkey with the world. Istanbul Technical University, which was first in the field of "Engineering and Technology" last year, also took the first place among universities in Turkey again this year. Turkey, competed in 23 of the 46 areas determined by QS for world universities. Our university ranked first among the list of universities from Turkey after being evaluated for 22 fields in QS, achieving a rank in 11 of these areas, thereby placing it among the top 500 universities in the world.

İTÜ Engineering and Technology 242nd in the World, 1st in Turkey.

The "Mission Differentiation and Specialization Meeting in the Global Competitive Environment" event held at the YÖK Conference Hall in Ankara was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, our Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Alper Ünal as well as a large number of scientists. The meeting discussed the importance of using international benchmarks to determine the strategy of universities and how the performance of universities in the globalizing world could be improved. Istanbul Technical University left an impression with its success. ITU achieved great success by placing 242nd in the world, and 1st in Turkey in the QS “Engineering and Technology” rankings. The "Field Focused Achievement Award" certificate given to our university was presented to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca by President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç at a ceremony.

The place for skilled researchers, ITU

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, summed up ITU’s success with:

“Istanbul Technical University has achieved many successes at the department level and at the subject level. The results of the QS evaluation are also indicative of the skilled research being conducted and world renowned researchers and faculty members at ITU. According to the results, ITU placed first in Turkey and 242nd in the world in the "Engineering and Technology" category. In order for our success to continue, we will be ensuring that our researchers produce high-quality projects with added value and performance-focused goals. We will also proceed full speed with strengthening our infrastructure."
