Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman is among the top 1000 scientists of the world

Professor of ITU Industrial Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman was selected among the Top 1000 Scientists in the world according to Guide2Research. Adding to his already existing scientific achievements, Prof. Kahraman was ranked 808th according to Computer Science and Electronics Scientists World H Index.

As one of the important research platforms in the field of computer science, Guide2Research continues to work with academics, researchers and postgraduate students to further their research. G2R, which ranks Google based H-index, measuring the total number of citations of academics, has been announcing the “TOP 1000 Scientist” list every year since 2014. According to the data of G2R Computer Science and Electronics Scientists World H Index Ranking announced on May 16, 2020, and our faculty member got 247 points. Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman ranked among the top 1000 scientists in the world by taking the 808th place with 29 thousand 519 citations and 70 H-index. In Turkey, being the most cited in his research field, Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman was ranked second in our country, following Prof. Dr. A. Murat Tekalp of Koç University.

Who is Prof Dr. Cengiz Kahraman?

Born in 1965 in Üsküdar, Istanbul Prof, Dr. Cengiz Kahraman completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara, Balıkesir and Samsun. Starting his education at Kuleli Military High School in 1979, Kahraman graduated in 1983 and started his undergraduate education in ITU Industrial Engineering Department the following year. After 4 years of undergraduate education, he graduated from ITU Institute of Sciences, Industry Engineering in 1990; and received his doctorate degree in 1996. Successfully continuing his academic career, Kahraman received his first title as an assistant professor in 1996. Our academic received his associate professorship in 1998 and professorship in 2003.

Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman’s main areas of work include engineering economy, quality management, multi-criteria decision-making, statistical decision making and fuzzy decision-making. Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman has more than 270 internationally indexed articles, more than 180 international papers, and more than 110 international book chapters. He has worked as an editor for 19 international books and as a guest editor for numerous international magazines. Kahraman is still on the editorial board of 20 international magazines, one of which is editor-in-chief.

Our faculty member, who also organizes many scientific conferences internationally, successfully served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management at ITU between 2004 and 2007 and as the Cahir for Department of Industrial Engineering between 2007 and 2010, and successfully fulfilled the administrative duties he took at our university.

According to the results of the research published by the Turkishtime magazine, Kahraman ranked 40th in the list of "Top 100 Turks directing the world of science". Prof. Dr. Cengiz Kahraman is also the owner of the 2018 TÜBİTAK Science Award.
